Piya and Deb Roy

Piya and Deb’s love for music manifests itself in their live shows and online activities. Piya's training in classical and adhunik, under masters like Krishnachandra Bannerjee, Sukhendu Goswami, Neeta Sen and association with legends Salil Choudhury and Hemanta Mukherjee flows through easily in her performances. Deb takes care more of the accompaniments and technology aspects of the programs, but his melodious voice ensures that all performances by this gifted couple is unique with solos and duets, with a versatile range from yesteryear hits to contemporary songs, in both Bengali and Hindi. Their interest and experience in technology, media and arts and fascination with podcasting led to the creation of www.PodioIndia.com

 which has become one of the most popular Indian podcasting websites. Along with their weekly internet Hindi music shows they also present the Countdown to Banga Sammelan show on www.BanglaPodcast.com and NABC2007 and NABC2008 websites. Outside regular academics, Piya's years in Kolkata were spent pursuing music while Deb wrote columns in major newspapers. These early interests now find a confluence in the shows they produce and host from USA . When not thinking together about creative podcast content and live shows, Piya works with teachers and students of Special Education while Deb develops Biotechnology.
